Bob Anderson
1922-2012
We are sorry to have to give you the news that Bob Anderson passed away today (1st). Bob will be                                  missed here in Eldorado by all of his friends and neighbors. Below is the email from Pearl notifiying                                     us of his passing.
In addition to Pearl, Bob is survived by two daughters, Simone and Cherry; his son Robert                                                   predeceased him. He leaves six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
As some of you were aware, Bob was quite active in films and we took the liberty of going to wikipedia                                and pulling up information about his film career. That follows the email from Pearl.

Hello everyone and a Happy New Year to you all.
With a heavy heart I bring you this news; at 4am on the 1st of January 2011, my husband Bob Anderson passed away peacefully.
As you all know he lived the fullest of lives and he will be greatly missed. But he lives on in our hearts, and the legend of the Silverblade will continue to inspire for generations to come.
If anyone would like to come and pay their respects to Bob and the family there will be an event some time soon to celebrate his wonderful life. Please email me if you would like to attend or call on our UK phone number.
With love,
Pearl Anderson.

From Wikipedia:
Bob Anderson (born 15 September 1922) is an English actor and fencer. Anderson also owns a claim to fame for being a swordfighting trainer for several films, as well as a stunt double for Darth Vader in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. He is one of seven people to have played that character. He was born in Hampshire.
Anderson did not receive much recognition for his role in the Star Wars films for years after their initial release, in part because David Prowse was so lauded for his portrayal that director George Lucas did not want to detract from the boost it gave the actor's career. In a 1983 interview, however, Mark Hamill paid homage to Anderson's contribution, saying, "Bob Anderson was the man who actually did Vader’s fighting. It was always supposed to be a secret, but I finally told George I didn’t think it was fair any more. Bob worked so bloody hard that he deserves some recognition. It’s ridiculous to preserve the myth that it’s all done by one man."
As a competitive fencer, he represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games in 1952[1] and the World Championships in 1950 and 1953 in the sabre event. He finished tied for fifth in the team sabre event at Helsinki in 1952.

                          Gus Mowbray
                           January 6, 2012
Our good friend and neighbor Gus Mowbray passed away this morning. Our sympathy goes out to   Marje in this time of mourning. Their son Norman and daughter Wanda survive Gus and are a great comfort to Marje. Gus was an active resident of Eldorado who was always ready to greet his neighbors when they passed his home at Lot # 157. Gus was a long time member of the Lions Club back in Canada and a past President of our Social Club here. He and Marje served on many committees and were a real asset to our community. For those who might want to send Marje a card or note,

Her address is as follows:
313-443 Centennial Dr.,
Milton Ont., L9T-6A1.
Canada.
Phone: 905-875-2690.

The following is from an email I received from Marje. I was unable to insert the complete bulletin from Gus's service, but I have put in the information about his family and the text of his daughter Wanda's memorial talk about her father. From reading it, it just reaffirms the wonderful memories that we have of Gus.

From the bulletin:
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Gus on Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Milton District. Hospital. Gus Mowbray, beloved husband of Marjorie. Loving father of Wanda and her husband Doug Mclaughlin and Norman and his wife Heather Mowbray. Forever remembered by his grandchildren Kelly (Chris Green), Sheila (Jody Albert), Scott Mclaughlin (Danielle), Michael Mowbray (Rachel) and Nicole Mowbray (Kevin McKenzie). Sadly missed by his six great-grandchildren, predeceased by his brother and sister. If desired, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Wanda's memorial talk.
On behalf of my mother, my brother and the rest of our family I would like to thank you for the outpouring of support and kindness you have shown us. On July 21,1932 Angus Austin Mowbray was born in Unionville. He was the Third Child of James and Florence.
He was a farm boy and helped his father raise Black Angus cattle. On July 21,1951 he married Marjorie Susan Baker. 11 months later they had a beautiful baby girl and they called her Wanda. 4 years after that they had an ok looking boy whom they called Norman. By that time Gus had already built his first house on Rouge Street in Markham.
A few years later while driving for Imperial Oil Ltd. He purchased a farm in Whitevale and raised some Black Angus Cattle amongst other things. Life on the farm was never dull and I loved hearing all the stories. There were many interesting events that took place there. In 1961 he was given an opportunity to take over an Esso agency in a small town called Milton. He thought that this might work out well for his family's future. And so we packed up and moved to this faraway town where we knew no one. He made a good decision. He provided us with a great life filled with vacations and fun.
In 1970 he completed his second home. An lived there for many years while building his business to a successful company that still thrives today under the watchful eyes of my brother. You know the ok looking boy.
To many of you he was the oilman, the furnace man, a hockey coach or a baseball coach. By the number of people here today it is obvious that he touched many lives in some way.
Dad's passion was The Milton Lions Club. Along with Dave Brush, Sam Nadalin and others he became a Charter Member in 1963. He was proud that he was a Charter Member with perfect attendance. There was nothing more important to him outside of his family. He went to a meeting with the help of his fellow members just over a
Month ago. On the recommendation of the Lions Club, the town awarded him and two other members with a Lifetime Achievement award. We all attended and were very proud of him.
I also know that if any of you in this room have NEVER had one of his famous hamburgers you did not attend The Steam Show or the annual ball tournaments or you are a vegetarian..
He loved doing it but don't try to change the barbeque or his technique. I believed his bar b q was tampered with and he wasn't impressed to say the least. I'm sure that my dad kept his feelings to himself because we all know that he didn't like to argue, MUCH. One of his lines was that He wasn't going to argue with you but your wrong. Our dad was full of these little ah ha sayings. Many of you have heard them I'm sure. To us he was dad. When I would ask him to do a chore for me like trim the hedge or build me something, both of which he liked, He would grumble and carry on the whole time he was doing it. I had to keep an eye on him though because I'd look out and he'd be sitting down on the deck drinking a beer. I am sure most of you know that drinking a beer was very rare for him so I'd let him enjoy it before I put him back to work.
The Legion was a good place to find him as well. He spent his last visit there enjoying hanging out with Joe, Howie and mayor Gord. I think he drank there again just to be social. They probably forced it upon him.
I will miss many things about my dad. I will miss never hearing him say in a surly voice "WHAT DO YOU WANT" to which I would reply that I came to see his ugly face whenever I visited him. I am sure that was his way of saying welcome I'm glad to see you. He appeared gruff and crotchety on the outside but he was a softy inside. He enjoyed his grand children and his great grand children.
Our father was a remarkable man, never once complaining about this awful disease. He did not let it change his lifestyle much. He even cooked burgers at a ball tournament with his Chemo pump.
The Strength and courage that he taught us will stay in our hearts forever.
Dad we will miss you. We love you and you will always be with us in spirit. Goodbye old man.
Jerry Otey
We received word that Jerry Otey who lived in the home at Lot # 218 Passed away this week. Jerry was not well  known in Eldorado as he hasn't lived here very  long and was a private person. Some of our longer time residents will remember Lottie Clune. Lottie and her husband Cliff were managers of Eldorado for many years and when they retired bought the home located at lot 164. Lottie was very active here in Eldorado and the contributions of she and Cliff were many. Lottie lives now out on the west coast in the state of Washington. We recently heard from her daughter Betsy who informed us that, in spite of her failing eyesight, she is still going strong. The picture above is from facebook and shows Lottie with most of her family. We are happy to hear that Lottie is doing well and wish her nothing but the best.
Poor Boy Lunch
April 13, 2012
Bev MacMillan

Patty Gregg and myself on checking the freezer we discovered a lot of food that was still remaining. “What are we going to do with all this food?”
Dave Marciszewski and his team of men (Richard Tracy and Rick Wilhelm) took the challenge and came up with a POOR BOY LUNCH, and the best thing about it was that it only cost $1.99. The guys were seen in the kitchen early in the morning preparing a feast of; ham & cheese sandwich, baked beans with breakfast sausage, cole slaw, blueberry shortcake with whipped cream, tea, coffee and lemonade.

The attendance was 49 and the best part was that everything was used up and the freezer is now empty. Thank you to all that came out.

Art Shfflett
It is with an extremely heavy heart that I pass along that my Dad passed away just before 9 am this morning. He basically went downhill a month after Mom died.  He has been in a nursing home since then with a steady decline.  He died from pneumonia and possible pulmonary embolism.
But it comforts me to know that Mom and Dad are together again.
Could you please pass this along to anyone you think would want to know?  Thanks so much.
Love, Bobbie
